Welcome to Penshurst, a quaint little suburb that has all the suburban charm coupled with natural beauty. The main strip is on Penshurst Road, a short walk from Penshurst train station. Here you’ll find some wonderful cafes and restaurants in amongst the retail shops. Penshurst is home to many Victorian mansions, with the most notable being Kintail in Laycock Road. This home was built on the highest point of Laycock Road in 1881 by prominent landowner and former Kogarah Mayor, Myles McRae, in 1888. The mansion was heritage listed by the National Trust in 2003
Penshurst has a suite of sporting facilities available in the all-inclusive Penshurst Park including the Hurstville Aquatic Centre, the Norm O’Neill cricket facility, and the Johnny Warren indoor sports centre.
Penshurst is also home to Olds Park that caters for a diverse range of passive and active recreational pursuits including basketball and netball courts, and the new state of the art commissioned public art installation ‘Knucker’. Constructed from repurposed skateboards, this majestic dragon sculpture embodies the spirit of Georges River.
