Peakhurst

Peakhurst is a quiet leafy suburb that is blessed with many recreational parks and sporting fields. The first settlers at Peakhurst came to the area in the 1820s and 1830s to utilise the thickly timbered forest ridges. By 1838, John Robert Peake, a notable settler, had acquired over 200 acres of land, solidifying the area’s association with the Peake family and earning it the local moniker of ‘Peakhurst’.

Proudly owned by Georges River Council, the esteemed Hurstville Golf Course is a cherished asset in Peakhurst. Originally inaugurated as a nine-hole course by Mayor Curlisa in 1968, it was later expanded to an 18-hole course twenty years later, marking a significant milestone in its history.

Another major attraction in the area is the newly rejuvenated Gannons Park, serving as a cherished haven for families. Featuring eight sports fields on the upper level and an off-leash dog park on the lower ground, Gannons Park offers diverse recreational opportunities. Adjacent to the park, a shared path caters to both pedestrians and cyclists, enhancing accessibility and enjoyment for all.

Peakhurst is a wonderful suburb for those seeking a diverse range of activities to enjoy throughout.
