Narwee’s charm lies in its quaint streets and historic landmarks, showing its Aboriginal heritage meaning ‘sun’.
Narwee traces its origins back to Richard Podmore, the first settler in the area who established Sunning Hill Farm in 1809. The 1931 opening of the East Hills railway line changed Narwee. It had a rapid growth rate after World War II.
Notably, Narwee High School was a community cornerstone. It was repurposed for housing in 2001. Today, remnants of its past can be found in landmarks like the Richard Podmore and Robert Gardner Reserves, which reflect the suburb’s heritage.
Broadarrow Road, the suburb’s main road, is a busy hub. It connects Beverly Hills and Riverwood and serves as the boundary between the Georges River and Canterbury Bankstown areas.
