Narwee

Narwee’s charm lies in its quaint streets and historic landmarks, embodying its Aboriginal namesake meaning “sun”.

Narwee traces its origins back to Richard Podmore, the first settler in the area who established Sunning Hill Farm in 1809. The introduction of the East Hills railway line in 1931 heralded a new era for Narwee, transforming it into a burgeoning dormitory suburb, with rapid growth following World War II. Notably, Narwee High School emerged as a cornerstone of the community before being repurposed for housing in 2001. Today, remnants of its past can be found in landmarks like the Richard Podmore Reserve and the Robert Gardner Reserve, reflecting the suburb’s rich heritage.

Broadarrow Road, the suburb’s main thoroughfare, serves as a boundary between the Georges River and Canterbury Bankstown local government areas and is a bustling hub connecting neighbouring Beverly Hills and Riverwood.

A stone’s throw from Roselands Shopping Centre, Narwee offers residents easy access to a plethora of retail outlets, dining options, and entertainment amenities, enriching the area’s accessibility and convenience.
