One of the standout features of Georges River was its breathtaking natural scenery. Beyond its natural beauty, the Georges River region is steeped in history. During her journey through Georges River, Ada spoke about the cultural significance of the area, highlighting its Aboriginal heritage and the stories of the traditional custodians.
Ada’s first stop was Oatley, a suburb known for its village charm, vibrant cafes, unique boutiques, and natural beauty. East Avenue Espresso Cafe is a favourite on Ada’s list with their quality food and coffee with a Mediterranean twist. Ada then headed over to Edmonds and Greer for a juice and a sweet treat. Their boutique-style shop created a vibrant atmosphere that makes it a local favourite.
Next stop: Penshurst, a suburb established in 1884 and home to Olds Park. Ada stopped by at Short Black Espresso, a Penshurst favourite with an 18-year history, known for its quality food and Cypriot-inspired menu. She indulged in their signature Cypriot breakfast, paired with a refreshing smoothie. Also located in Penshurst is TJ’s, a cosy spot that transforms from cafe by day to small bar by afternoon. Since opening in 2006, TJ’s has earned a reputation as a warm, welcoming community hub that Ada loves to visit.
In the afternoon, Ada visited Sans Souci, highlighting one of her favourite spots: the St George Motor Boat Club. Known for its spectacular bay views and excellent facilities, the club offers dining and catering options, conference and reception spaces, and a state-of-the-art marina for boating enthusiasts.
The final stop on the tour was the Oatley Hotel, where Ada caught up with Chris, a friendly employee at this family favourite hangout. Oatley Hotel is known for its delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a vibrant atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy live music on the weekends, versatile function spaces, and a laid-back, welcoming vibe.
Throughout her journey, Ada highlighted the strong sense of community that shapes the Georges River region.
